Lone Pinon highlights this week's activities

October 9-12

Worlds of Music will host Lone Piñon for a music and dance workshops. Come hear them from 12:45 to 2 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Buffalo Senior Center. On Thursday evening they will play in a “crowd plunge” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. downtown. They will start at Up in Smoke, head to Unwined and finish at the Occidental Saloon. Saturday morning is a song, dance and music workshop at BHS open to all musicians, singers and dancers of all levels. The workshop is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lone Piñon will play for a Saturday Night Dance at 7:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 13. All events are free and open to the public. 

October 11

A new exhibit featuring the work of acclaimed Mexican abstract visual artist Martirene Alcántara will open at the Ucross Art Gallery. A public reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Ucross Art Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public. 

October 11-12

CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER Fort Phil Kearny will host Full Moon Fort, a chance to tour the fort by the light of the full moon from 7 to 10 p.m. Call 684-7629 to make reservations or reserve online at fortphilkearny.com

October 12

The Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum Fall Gathering will be held at 6 p.m. at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

October 13

The Model A & Pioneer Car Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. at Kearney Hall. Members are reminded that entries for the 2020 calendar are due. 

October 14

Wyopoets will host a poetry reading in celebration of National Poetry Day. The reading will feature Gene Gagliano, David Romtvedt, Henry Real Bird, Christine Valentine and Clara "Clem" Caufield. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Occidental Hotel and is free and open to the public.

October 16

BHS CREATE Film Club will kick of the fall film series with a screening of“Napoleon Dynamite” at 7 p.m.  Admission free, concessions available for purchase.
