New West Coordinator Mike Hanson talks with a returning student about her car and the summer on Wednesday evening. Teachers caught up with returning students as they arrived about their summers and what they have been up to since May.

New West held their back to school orientation potluck and get together the week before school started, welcoming back former and new students alike. The school talked about their goals for the students and how to make those goals possible. The nacho potluck fed guests while students laughed about summer surprises.

New West senior Savahna Burke winces with uncertainty as Mike Hanson returns to her a forgotten keychain Chewbacca on Wednesday evening. Burke had to guess what he was returning to her but couldn’t figure it out, however she immediately recognized it when he dumped it in her hand.
