Buffalo resident John Knebel perished in a fire at his home in Buffalo late Saturday night.

City fire officials spent most of Sunday morning and afternoon investigating the scene of the fire at the home on Yukon Lane. Buffalo Fire Chief Gomer Gammon said the investigation of the fire is closed.

The fire started in the southwest corner of the living room. Although investigators could not pinpoint an exact cause, Gammon said the accidental blaze was probably electrical. Fire damage was contained to the living room, and the rest of the home sustained smoke and heat damage.

Two boxer dogs also were lost in the blaze. Knebel, a Buffalo native, was the owner of Knebel Body & Paint.

The funeral service for John Knebel will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. at Buffalo's Bighorn Baptist Church, 1400 Fort St.
