Della Long a long-time resident of Kaycee, passed away June 27 at the age of 76 with her loving husband at her side. She had won her battle with cancer and was celebrating life when an infection took her.
Della was born May 7, 1943, to the late Marna and Vernon Eitel in Gillette. She was the youngest of three children. Della graduated from Moorcroft High School in May 1961.
Fifty-five years ago she married the love of her life, Harvey G. Long. They lived an adventurous life in the early days, then settled down in Kaycee in 1972. They were blessed with three children: Daughters, Penny and Candi, and son, Mike. She lived every day as a blessing to her family and her family was her most valuable treasure. Della had a special way of loving and understanding everyone and their situations. She was blessed with four grandsons: Eric, Lance, Colter and Marcus and two other grandchildren, Alex and Tye, who joined her family later in life; four great-grandchildren, Kylie, Ammarie, Aiden and Karizmah.
Della was an active member of the Kaycee community. She worked at the school as a lunchroom cook then became the bookkeeper for the family business, H-D Long Trucking. She was always willing to help out and step up to represent Kaycee. She was an avid crocheter with a talent to turn yarn into beautiful art pieces. Her family and friends will always feel her warmth and presence in her crocheted gifts.
