Funeral services for Shirley Rubottom, 84-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away the morning of Aug. 20 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana following a short illness, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30 at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with her nephew Brian Jarvis officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel from 1 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 8 until 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. A reception will be held at the American Legion Hall in Buffalo after the graveside services. Shirley Claire Rubottom was born on March 2, 1935 in Benkelman, Nebraska to Horace Doane and Violet Warnock. She moved with her family to Johnson County and attended country schools and attended Johnson County High School. She was married on Dec. 22, 1952 to David Rubottom and they made their home in Buffalo where she was a mother and housewife. She and Dave owned and operated Pauline’s Sportswear in Buffalo from 1974 until 1982. After selling the store she worked in the bakery at the IGA for a couple years. Dave passed away in January 2017 and Shirley continued living in Buffalo until she moved to Billings to be with family in 2018, where she lived until her death.

Shirley was an avid bird watcher and loved her flower gardens. Her passion was spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was an avid hockey fan and followed her grandsons all over the country.

She is survived by one son, Curtis Rubottom and his wife Darla of Buffalo; one daughter Jan Hefner and her husband Don of Billings, Montana; one sister Donna Jarvis of Buffalo; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant son, two brothers and three sisters.
