Shirley Mae Freese was born April 25, 1923, in Buffalo to William Merrill and Myrle Irene Freese, and went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2019. Shirley was the oldest of eight children: Irene, Bill, Bob, Pat, Gene, Beverly and Gordon. Shirley grew up in Story, but also lived in Buffalo, Sheridan and Gillette among other towns. Shirley married at 17 and had seven children. She moved to Washington State in 1970 and met the love of her life in Roy Dowda in 1975. She is survived by all seven of her children: Perry (Kathleen) Ames, Merrill (Dana) Ames, Nicole (Dennis) Petersen, David (Kim) Ames, Sheila Taylor Allen, Cody (Brenda) Ames, Vie Anna (Kurt) Kulesza. Shirley was treasured by all her knew her. We will love and miss her forever, but are so thankful to know she is having a glorious homecoming in Heaven.

A public memorial and celebration of life will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 10 at the Republic Presbyterian Church, 605 S. Keller Street, Republic, Washington; burial at 12 p.m. at the Republic Cemetery.
