Christopher John Bugher

Jan. 25, 1981 – Oct. 13, 2019

On Oct. 13 Christopher John Bugher, much loved son, grandson, brother, nephew and uncle passed away. This happened peacefully, in his sleep, at his apartment, at the age of 38.

Chris was born on Jan 25, 1981, in Sheridan, to Gerald “John” and (Doris) Julie (Coombs) Bugher. He spent his early childhood in Buffalo. When his dad got a job as a construction project manager, the family moved all over the state – to Guernsey, Jackson, Rawlins and Casper, but home base was always Buffalo, where the family had a home. The family spent free time exploring around Wyoming, visiting sites of interest near towns they lived in.

From a very early age, Chris loved to learn and to read. He was a precocious child. However, he found school to be boring. The challenges of public school were not usually comparable with his interests. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 2000.

Chris spent many years as an associate in several retail establishments. In 2013, he moved to Utah to work for a car dealership. He returned to Sheridan in 2016 where he worked at Albertson's until the time of his death.

Chris shared the love of the outdoors with his father. He loved to camp and fish. For eight years, he enjoyed being a part of the pit crew for his brother, Jeff and close friends Tom and Jack Kekich, at the snowmobile drag races at the World Snowmobile Expo in West Yellowstone. He had a passion for fine food, and he did a lot of cooking and baking. He'd cook traditional fare for Thanksgiving, and for Christmas and New Year's, he'd create tasty gourmet meals. He loved to travel – road trips and flying. He loved visiting big cities, especially favoring the people, museums, historical sites and the pace of NYC. He was a die-hard Denver Broncos and Utah Jazz fan through thick and thin. Other hobbies and interests included photography, going to music concerts, astronomy, trivia and playing video games. Chris loved having cats as pets. He enjoyed meeting people and he had the heart of a faithful servant. He was a helpful, loyal, and loving companion to his mother. He had a sweet, gentle spirit, and delighted in the little things.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, John Bugher, and aunts Edee Russell and Greta Taylor. He is survived by his mother, Julie Bugher; his 95-year-old grandmother Pennie Coombs; brother Jeff; half-siblings, Tonya Bugher and Randy Bugher; uncles, Walt Russell and David Taylor; and several well-loved cousins, nieces and nephews. Chris was fortunate to have a wide and diverse circle of friends, whom he loved immensely. Many were considered to be a part of the family. They will dearly miss their carrot top.

A celebration of life was held on Nov. 1 at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan with Pastor Karl Heimbuck, of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Graveside services were held at the Willow Grove Cemetery at the Bugher family plot in Buffalo.

Donations can be made in his name to the Second Chance Cat Rescue of Sheridan, Wyoming. Or to any charity of your choice.
