Dear Editor:

I hate to deprive my friends of the chance to pull my leg – but I’m not the William Woodward cited in “From the Bench” in last week’s Bulletin, and fined for transporting a game carcass without a tag. However, those friends may take comfort in a bit of Woodward family history. “Wardens of the Woods,” from which the name derives, were often punished for killing the king’s deer, which they were employed to protect.
