Dear Editor,

I am surprised at the number of people here not wearing masks as I’ve considered this a caring community. Masks need not be a political statement. They show respect and concern for those around us. They are evidence of our support for the caregivers and personnel who staff our hospital and nursing homes every day. And masks show our sympathy for the families of the thousands dying of this contagious disease. Buffalo has been extremely fortunate so far in this epidemic. What are we willing to do to keep us safe?
